Ears hygiene

What is an ear cell?

Cells are a wax-like substance that is produced by the skin glands of the ear inlet.

What does the cell need?
The cell protects the ear from dust, dirt and germs. It creates a protective layer over the skin and keeps it dry and clean.

Every time a cell is produced?
The cell is produced continuously throughout our lives.

Every time we have to clean our ears with cotton swabs?
Never. The ear has a special self-cleaning mechanism. The old cell is slowly moving outward. With a soft cloth we wipe the cell from the ear inlet.

,Why shouldn't we put cotton swabs in the ear?

For two reasons. Firstly, because by inserting the cotton swab into the ear we push the cell in and do not allow the self-cleaning mechanism to function normally. Repeated uses of the cotton swab can clog the ears with a blister. Secondly, because the skin of the ear inlet is very thin and delicate and can be injured with the cotton swab. It can cause severe and painful inflammation also known as external otitis.

Why, while not cleaning my ears with cotton swabs, do they still cling to a cuvette?
In some people the structure of the ear inlet has anatomical features, for example, it is narrow, has large angles, so the self-cleaning mechanism is not sufficient and the ears are clogged.

What happens in these cases?
In these difficult, but not uncommon cases, the cell is removed by a specialist otolaryngologist with the help of a forensic microscope.
What are the symptoms when the ear is filled with a blister?
You feel that your hearing has diminished. Your ears may hum or feel a little dizzy. The ears can ache and the pain may get worse with chewing food. Often there is a feeling that the ears have coughed or that they suddenly crawled after the bath.

How are the cells removed?
There are three ways to have the cell removed by a specialist otolaryngologist. By washing the ear. Using a special syringe, spray water into the ear in order to remove the cell. This method is no longer applicable because water pressure can injure the ear drum and if there is a hole in the drum, which does not appear because the cell is covered, it may pass water through the hole and cause severe inflammation. Removal of the cell with special microlabs, which capture and remove the cell.Removing the cell with special micro-suction. In the latter two methods, the otolaryngologist uses the examining microscope to view the ear and the alveoli with a large magnification. This avoids injury to the skin and drum and makes even small holes in the drum visible.

And the drops, marketed?
Special oily drops of commerce make a significant contribution to easier removal of the cell because they soften it and dissolve it. They should be used after an ear examination by an otolaryngologist who will confirm the existence of an alveoli and exclude the existence of a hole in the drum. Only under these conditions can they be used safely.
